The Colour Bar: Legal Career & Professional Development Information Session

The Black Law Student Association of Canada (BLSAC) in collaboration with the Canadian Association of Black Lawyers (CABL) will be hosting an event on Thursday July 15th, 2010 at the University of Toronto, 7 Hart House Circle, South Common Room, from 5:30p.m. - 9:00 p.m. There will be a panelist discussion from 6:00-7:30 p.m.
The session is intended to bring together leading legal practitioners/academics with Black law students to network and gain valuable information about the legal profession. Panelists will cover a range of topics including job search techniques, the application processes/contacting possible employers; what employers may be looking for in cover letters and resumes; preparing for and conducting interviews; expectations and suggestions for dinners/receptions; and advice on professional dress and presentation including correspondence via email and telephone with potential employers and more. Refreshments will be served.
We would love to see many members of the Black legal community at the event to speak with students about their career paths and share their experiences!
