CABL Mentorship Program

Mentorship

At CABL, we believe that mentorship is a crucial component of professional development and career advancement for Black legal professionals. That’s why we have developed a structured mentorship program to connect our members with a trusted support system of established mentors who can offer insights, guidance, and advice.

Our mentorship program is designed to support the growth and success of our members, both as legal professionals and as individuals. Whether you are a student just starting out in your legal career or a seasoned lawyer looking to take your career to the next level, our mentorship program can help you achieve your goals.

CABL/BLSA Mentorship Program

The Canadian Association of Black Lawyers (CABL) and the Black Law Students Association (BLSA) have joined forces to launch a national mentorship program aimed at supporting and guiding Black law students and legal professionals. Mentorship has long been recognized as a crucial component of career success and personal growth, and it is especially important for Black people who often face unique challenges and barriers in the legal profession. The CABL-BLSA Mentorship Program aims to provide a supportive network of mentors and mentees that can help build and sustain a diverse, equitable, and inclusive legal community.

The lack of diversity in the legal profession is a well-documented problem, and it is one that has far-reaching implications for the justice system and society as a whole. By partnering together, CABL and BLSA are sending a powerful message that diversity and inclusion are top priorities for both organizations. This collaboration also provides a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between law students, practicing lawyers and undergraduate students with an interest in law, creating a supportive and mutually beneficial mentorship network that can help to break down barriers and promote equity and justice.

If you are a law student, the CABL/BLSA Mentorship Program can connect you with a lawyer or upper-year student mentee, or give you the opportunity to mentor a law student or prospective law student. For lawyers, the Program offers experienced lawyer mentors, as well as an opportunity to support the development of law students and new members of the profession.

If you are interested in being a mentor, mentee or both, please sign up below. We look forward to including you as part of our Program!
